About The Author
Jessica Newman is a Chicago native from the Englewood neighborhood, traveler, dancer, and emerging author. Her debut children’s book, Journey with Jessie: From Chicago to Ghana, was written to inspire children, especially those from minoritized communities, to see the world and dream beyond the limitations placed on them. The book is both a love letter to Chicago and Ghana, West Africa. Through storytelling and cultural exploration, Jessica encourages young readers to embrace curiosity, cultural pride, and a sense of global possibility. She is passionate about expanding access to travel and learning, and serving as a bridge between cultures.
