This fun, six day introductory course on bookbinding will guide students from simple pamphlet bindings to completing two hardcover books.

Bookbinding I

Saturday and Sunday, November 02, 03, 16, 17, 30, Dec. 01

10:00am - 4:00pm each day (with one hour lunch)

This workshop is an introduction to the craft of bookbinding, teaching terminology, materials, tools, techniques, and other core bookbinding concepts. The course starts from simple pamphlet binding structures and end with two styles of hardcover books.

Participants are guided through basic bookbinding skills, the principles behind the book structure, recommended materials and suppliers, and step by step bookbinding, and much more! This course prepares you to explore bookbinding on your own or continue with more advanced studies.


Suitable for beginners and all experience levels.

This workshop is the first of the CBBAG core curriculum workshops and is a prerequisite for CBBAG Bookbinding II.

Materials costs are included in the workshop fees.

Notes:

Registration closes October 16th, 2024 @ 11:30PM

Participant-requested cancellations will be accepted up to 3 days prior to the published cut-off date for registration and will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee (a minimum of $5). After that, the full fee will be forfeited. In the event of the workshop being cancelled by CBBAG, the workshop fee will be fully refunded.



INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY :

Tiffany Eng Moore is a CAPC accredited book and archival conservator and runs TEM Conservation in Ottawa, Canada.

She has worked at the Canadian Conservation Institute, York Explore Library and Archives in North Yorkshire, UK and the House of Lords – Parliamentary Archives in London, UK. She holds a master's from West Dean College with an Masters in Conservation of Books and Library Materials.
