28 March, join us for a book presentation of “Siege of Mariupol” by Evgeniy Maloletka, followed by a conversation with the author, moderated by Lori Hinnant.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Maloletka documented life and death inside a besieged city. In this book, he shares deeply personal reflections while documenting war crimes, revealing the horrors that unfolded on the city’s streets, in its basements, and in its hospitals. It is a story about refusing to look away.

Come to hear the story behind the images, explore the reality of war journalism, and reflect on the role of photography in documenting truth.

Evgeniy Maloletka

A photojournalist who has been documenting the war in Ukraine since 2014. He is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner (2023) in Public Service and Breaking News Photography, and the recipient of the World Press Photo of the Year (2023) for his image from the Mariupol maternity hospital. His work has also been recognised with numerous international awards.

Lori Hinnant

A reporter on the Associated Press global investigative team. She earned the George Polk Award for War Reporting for her coverage of Ukraine, including documenting the Russian attack on Mariupol and investigating torture sites and mass civilian deaths.
A Ukrainian Charity auction will follow the evening to raise funds for families affected in Mariupol.

Репортерка розслідувальної команди Associated Press. Лауреатка премії Джорджа Полка за висвітлення війни в Україні, включно з документуванням російського нападу на Маріуполь та розслідуванням катівень і масових смертей серед цивільних.
Вечір завершиться українським благодійним аукціоном зі збору коштів для сімей, постраждалих у Маріуполі.
