Book Event: Mega Milk by Megan Milks Celebrating the new essay collection by Megan Milks!
About this Event

Please join us on Friday, April 10 to celebrate the essay collection by Megan Milks, who will be in conversation with Vera Blossom.

Please note: this is a mask required event. We have free masks available for everyone at the door, several large air purifiers, and ceiling fans for circulation.

A sparkling, funny, and often wrenching portrait-in-essays on the dairy industry, queer intimacy, family, fluidity, whiteness, and cows.

For decades, Megan Milks has wondered what it means to share a last name with the classic white American beverage. Now, Milks takes on their namesake subject in all its dimensions, venturing into the worlds of small dairies, bovine genetics, and manure while also turning their eye on their family and themself. The resulting essays connect the dots between human lactation, Big Dairy, being queer and lonely, climate change, transmasculinity, the bull semen industry, the milky roots of white supremacy, and the best practices for giving and receiving a hug. With Mega Milk, Megan Milks confirms their place as one of our most exciting queer thinkers and writers.

Megan Milks is the author of Margaret and the Mystery of the Missing Body, shortlisted for the 2022 Lambda Literary Award in Transgender Fiction, and Slug and Other Stories. Their new book, Mega Milk: Essays, was released this January from Feminist Press. They live in Brooklyn.

Vera Blossom is the author of How To Fuck Like a Girl from Dopamine press. She is a proud Filipina, a trans femme monster, and is happy to call Chicago her home. She is a big fan of being gay, reading gay books, and talking to gay people.

Accessibility: This event is hosted at the bookstore, which is wheelchair accessible. Masks are required. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you need a reserved seat, ASL interpretation, or have other access needs, please email [email protected] (2 weeks notice is required for interpretation).
