About this Event

Introducing… The First Ever GRANT PARTY!

Tired of hearing about grants but never quite getting around to applying? Feeling lost in the sea of applications and wondering where to even start? You’re not alone.

🎉 Grant Party is a creative work session + resource hub + vibe check designed to help YOU secure the funding you need to bring your projects to life. Whether it’s for an art installation, community event, album release, or your next big idea—this is the space to get it DONE.

📝 What’s the Grant Party?

  • A co-working session to actually write and work on grant applications.
  • A space to connect with other creatives who are getting to the bag too.
  • Featuring a guest speaker to drop gems on how to make your application stand out.
  • Resources, templates, and lists of upcoming funding opportunities.
  • Accountability, support, and vibes to keep you focused.

No more gatekeeping. No more procrastinating. Pull up. Get focused. Get funded.

Starting this month, every third Wednesday, we’re launching our very first **GRANT PARTY**, curated by our **Bloom Residency** and TBR Bloom Resident Eva Supreme.

Join us at TBR every Third Wednesday to share resources, exchange tips, and connect with fellow artists and creatives from around the city. Let’s make those ideas happen!

This transformative program, facilitated by The.BlkRoom and generously sponsored by Angel Bat Dawid, is dedicated to empowering Black women artists. It provides access to TBR's creative space, a vibrant community, valuable resources, and an extensive network of mentorship opportunities. The residency encourages artists to explore their work through the unique lens of Black womanhood, fostering deep exploration of identity, creativity, and expression.

The goal of the residency isn’t just project completion—it's about cultivating a nurturing environment where Black female artists can truly thrive!

All proceeds of this event go to supporting the Bloom Residency Program as an extension of TBR

Our Special Guest Speaker - Andre Jamal Cardine Jr.

Andre Jamal Cardine Jr. is a Chicago-based arts administrator, educator, and music research scholar. He serves as partnerships manager for the Beverly Art Center, while also pursuing a PhD in ethnomusicology from Indiana University. His dissertation project is focused on teacher retention and sustainability in the arts education landscape of Chicago Public Schools. Additionally, Andre is working as a curatorial assistant and scriptwriter for the Motown Museum’s expansion project in Detroit. With nearly two decades of musical experience, he has worked extensively across performance, arts education, and cultural programming.

PARKING/ENTRANCE

Free parking is located behind the building. You will see signs for the Chicago Tool Library (located in the same building as The.BlkRoom). They also share a lot. Park your car in the lot and enter through the blue door with the yellow sign. Someone from the TBR should be there to greet you upon arrival, but if not hang right toward the door just past the tool library and follow the signs for TBR. You walk up the stairs to suite 204.
