Event Description"They Say the People Can Fly" is a sweeping oral storytelling piece rich with Afro-diasporic folklore, folk history, rhythm and song. Watch and listen as shayna-adjowa’s dynamism, musicality, and embodied storytelling prowess brings to life the captivating lore of Flying Africans: captured, enslaved, and remembering their wings. Runtime: variable: 50 -75 mins (+ intermission as needed)

Tickets are available by sliding scale: $20-$40. Suggested admission: $25.
Doors open at 6:30 PM and the event will start promptly at 7:00 PM. Please do your best to be on time as late arrivals will be disruptive to activities in progress.

Shayna Jones (she/her) is an award winning actor, a playwright, a folklorist, and a multi-disciplinary spoken word artist specializing in the traditional oral storytelling of African and Afro-Diasporic lore.
As a professionally trained performer, vocalist, and fine mover, Shayna has crafted performances for countless audiences across Canada featuring Afro-centric Folk History, Folklore and Contemporary Experience. Learn more about Shayna and her work at:
