About this Event
Join Us for a BLACK-OWNED SOUTH AFRICAN WINE TASTING!
AYỌ Collective invites you to an exclusive evening at Nekter Deli in Shoreditch for a rare opportunity to taste five wines from Magna Carta Wines that are not commercially imported to the United Kingdom.
We're welcoming the winemaker himself, Mphumeleli 'Mphumi' Ndlangisa, all the way from South Africa. This is a genuine meet-the-maker moment: pull up a stool, taste through his portfolio, and hear the stories behind each bottle directly from the person who grew, harvested, and hand-crafted them.
About the wines
Magna Carta is a small-batch, natural wine label from the Cape, founded by Mphumi in 2014 after he walked away from a career in investment banking. Every bottle is made without chemicals or machinery, using organically farmed grapes from carefully selected vineyards across South Africa's Western Cape. The philosophy is simple: give freedom to the grapes. The results are precise, terroir-expressive, and quietly extraordinary.
The evening
— Five exclusive wines, poured and explained by the winemaker
— Curated cheese pairings from Nekter's small-plates kitchen
— A playlist of amapiano and South African jazz setting the tone
— Intimate, unhurried, and genuinely exclusive: these bottles are not available anywhere in the UK
