A monthly discussion group for Black and racially minoritised professionals and business owners exploring mental health at work.
About this Event

Black and racially minoritised professionals, business owners and entrepreuneurs are more likely to experience mental health issues at work, including anxiety, depression and everyday stress, which affects productivity and increases the likelihood of burnout. This also affects problem-solving and creative thinking, leading to a viscious cycle of even more overworking in order to meet 'the bottom line'.

This reality is a natural consequence of everyday microaggressions, systemic racism and the pressure of having to work 10 times as hard to get to the same place as white peers.

Work pressures affect our personal lives and our ability to rest and recharge effectively, leading to difficulties forming and maintain relationships that are supportive and nurturing, which feeds another viscious cycle of overworking as we become more socially isolated.

As we spend 90,000 hours at work (almost a third of our lives), we need to look after ourselves at work and find ways of supporting our mental health, so that we can reach our full potential and make the most out of our unique talents.

Black Minds In Business is a free, therapist-led group that offers a supportive and non-judgmental space to connect and explore our relationship with work and what we need to thrive in all areas of our lives. Each month explores a different theme and you're welcome to share as much or as little as you would like to.

The upcoming themes are as follows:

May - Anxiety and Worries at Work

June - Mistakes and Fear of Failure

July - Financial Stress and Mental Wellbeing

August - Boundary Setting

September - Partnership Working and Building Trust

October - Celebrating Black Culture and Heritage at Work
