About this Event
Black Eye Film Club presents DROP SQUAD (1994)
Drop Squad follows a group of Black activists who “deprogram” people they believe have become disconnected from their culture. What unfolds is not just confrontation, but a deeper exploration of belonging, pressure, and the many ways identity can be shaped and reshaped.
This is a film that invites reflection more than reaction.
We were looking for a Spike Lee deep cut, this was Executive Produced by him based on a short film. Definitely is the precursor to Bamboozled and really hits on cancel culture.
Big names including Ving Rhames, Vondie Curtis, Eric LaSalle, cameo from Spike Lee, director Kasi Lemmons and a lot of faces from School Daze.
This is our first screening at the Omenala Griot Museum, so come early so you can check the place out, come meet the staff, check out the artifacts and enjoy popcorn and concessions.
Doors open at 6, film introduced at 6:45, screening starts at 7.
