About this Event
Built in 1838, the Leg o' Mutton Reservoir supplied water until its decommission in 1960. Today, measuring just 800 x 100m (8.2ha), this linear site next to the river offers shelter and haven to a wealth of birds and other wildlife.
Spring is a lovely time to explore the reservoir, walking under the blossoming trees and listening for bird song.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. If it's warm, bring a bottle of water with you.
Due to the narrow paths on this site, this walk is limited to 10 participants.
Meet at the north entrance of the Leg o' Mutton reserve. This gate is accessible from the path leading to the river from Lonsdale Road, next to the Swedish School. What3words coordinates: ///shadow.grabs.marble. Google Maps: click here. This walk is led by Peter Kemmis-Betty.
Please note dogs will not be admitted at this event except guide dogs. All our events are dog free unless specifically mentioned in the event listing.
