About this Event
From the mysterious shadowFeaturing national treasure Paddington Bear and magical Prince Prospero, discover how music can spark the imagination at this special children’s concert.
Two very different worlds collide in this musical programme, allowing kids to discover for themselves how music can spark the imagination. First, we’ll step into the spooky world of André Caplet’s Conte Fantastique, after Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death, and explore the power of music to evoke big emotions. Then, we’ll meet Paddington Bear, accompanied by warm, playful music that celebrates kindness, curiosity and small adventures.
The concert will be narrated by documentary-maker and friend of the Foundling Museum, Helena Korner, and will be accompanied by a creative family workshop.
Repertoire:
André Caplet – Conte Fantastique after Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death for harp and string quartet (1922)
Herbert Chappell - Paddington Bear’s First Concert (1984) arr. Roger Montgomery
