Experience an evening of live music featuring multiple acts from the MA Popular Music Practice. From hip hop to experimental electronica, the showcase presents a wide range of genres and artistic approaches. Curated and produced by the MA students themselves, the showcase reflects the programme’s focus on collaboration, artistic exploration, and real-world professional practice — on stage and behind the scenes.
Friday 27th March

10:00 - 20:00: The relationship between Songwriting, Performance and Production with Ryan O'Reilly
In this Masterclass, Ryan O’Reilly will be joined remotely by some of his collaborators to discuss the intricate and crucial relationship of Songwriting, Performance and Production.

10:00 - 12:00 | Sound & Synthesis with Modular Systems with Niko LFO

A masterclass to guide sound / music students into the world of modular synths, sound synthesis, sound design. The essential sound design building blocks to create custom sounds and compositions from scratch - everything from classic synth leads, bass lines, beats, and ambient pads, to sound design & wild experimentations.

A simple 3-step recipe to keep things in focus, not getting lost, and build your own instruments from scratch in the modular synth universe.

13:00 - 15:00 | Mac Lab 3 | Scoring for Picture: Music for Film & Games with William Schneider

William has collaborated with directors in Berlin and London, composing scores for projects screened across Europe. Alongside his composing work, William supports international artists and brands such as Alice Phoebe Lou and Boiler Room at BSI Merch, and hosts Breaking Sound’s monthly Berlin showcases for emerging talent. In his workshop, he will share practical approaches to scoring, creative techniques for bringing scenes to life, and honest insights into developing a career in the film and game audio world.

15:00 - 17:00 | Live Room 1 | Self-Reflection & Coaching For Artistic Practice with Julia Victoria Graul
In this Masterclass you will learn:

- Core principles of coaching and conflict management.
- Practice goal setting, constructive feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Apply communication strategies in realistic scenarios from music, arts, and creative projects.
- Reflect on your own approaches and develop concrete tools for personal and professional growth.

The session is designed for both individual insight and interactive group work, making it ideal for students who want to strengthen their skills in a short, intensive format.
