BWB Drumline
The BWB Drumline is an award-winning intergenerational collective honoring Pan-African music and culture from the Americas, the Caribbean and West Africa. By reconnecting our generations, they work to create tangible community progress through authentic sharing of wisdom, resources, knowledge, innovative models of community collaboration and cultural preservation.
Since inception in 2015 they have performed at M.O.H.A.I., MoPOP, Showbox SODO, Seattle Art Museum, Triple Door, Fremont Studios, The Seattle Center, King Street Station, Waterfront Park and much more. Members of the BWB Drumline hail from the BWB roster and the extended Big World Breaks family, as well as a growing student roster from elementary schools (Leschi, Madrona, Bailey Gatzert, South Shore Pk-8, Thurgood Marshall, Hawthorne, Kimball, John Muir, North Beach, Alki), middle schools (Meany, Washington, Madison), high schools (Garfield, Cleveland, Todd Beamer, Interagency Academy, Franklin, Seattle World School); and the list of partners continues to grow. The BWB Drumline is directed by Big World Breaks’ founder Aaron Walker-Loud.
In its long-term trajectory, the BWB Drumline is built to support multiple entrance points where students can become connected with this movement in elementary school, and continue into middle and high school with further engagement and relationship building with our percussion-centered community. https://bigworldbreaks.com/bwbdrumline/
