About this Event
Gather with us for Beyond the Bio, a speaker series featuring women and gender expansive people from Rhode Island and beyond. Each event offers space for deep listening and meaningful conversation. Expect powerful storytelling, audience Q+A, and a chance to meet speakers in an intimate, community-centered setting.
This month we're honored to welcome Kilah Walters-Clinton, strategist, equity leader, and systems builder.
With over two decades of experience in government, philanthropy, and nonprofit leadership, she currently serves as Director of Equity and Community Engagement at the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services, where she collaborates with state leaders to advance health equity and strengthen community-centered governance. With more than 20 years of experience across government, philanthropy, and nonprofit leadership, Kilah brings a deep commitment to ensuring systems better serve the people they’re meant to support.
Kilah also serves as President of The Providence Shelter, a nearly 200-year-old Quaker-rooted organization supporting the educational and social advancement of historically underserved youth, and holds leadership roles with the Providence College President’s Council, the Rhode Island Red Cross, and Leadership Rhode Island. A graduate of the Institute for Nonprofit Practice’s Core Certificate Program and a 2024 Black Leadership Institute Fellow, she now mentors nonprofit leaders as a Senior Faculty Fellow. Kilah holds a master’s degree in counseling from Providence College and is ABD in Education and Leadership at Johnson and Wales University.
Suggested donations of $5-10 per ticket helps support free public programs for women and gender expansive people.
The Alcove is grateful to our community of members and supporters whose generosity makes free, public programs like this one possible. Together, we create space to thrive.
