Being Human — April Edition
Women Who Lead: Breaking Cycles of Inherited Emotional Patterns and Trauma
📆 Friday 10 April
⏰ 7:00–9:00 PM
📍The Exhibit, Balham, London
You promised yourself you would parent differently.
And then one evening you hear your father’s voice coming out of your mouth while helping your child with homework.
You swore you would never stay silent in meetings the way your mother did in her marriage.
Yet somehow you still swallow your anger at work to keep the peace.
You built a successful career.
You became the strong one.
The responsible one.
The one who holds everything together.
And yet certain reactions still surprise you.
The sudden irritation.
The guilt after losing your temper.
The exhaustion of always being “the capable one.”
Because leadership does not erase the emotional patterns we inherit.
Many of us are carrying generations of unspoken survival patterns:
- Suppressing anger to stay acceptable
- Over-functioning to prove our worth
- Feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions
- Staying longer than we should in situations that drain us
- Repeating dynamics we once swore we would escape
These patterns do not live in the mind.
They live in the nervous system.
And until they are consciously seen, they quietly shape how we lead, love, and live.
This Month at Being Human
In the April edition of Being Human, we will explore how inherited emotional patterns influence women who lead and what it means to break those cycles consciously.
Together we will explore:
- how family dynamics and generational trauma shape leadership behaviours
- the nervous system science behind repeated reactions and burnout
- why suppressed anger, guilt and responsibility often drive exhaustion
- how to recognise the patterns that are ready to end with us
What the Evening Includes
This is not a lecture or networking event.
It is a guided, intimate experience for women who lead.
The evening includes:
- facilitated conversation and reflection
- journaling prompts to identify inherited patterns
- insights into nervous system responses and burnout
- breathwork for emotional release and regulation
- a confidential space for honest conversation
- a Grounding Closing Ritual of Celebration
No pressure to share.
No performance.
Just a room where women can speak about what leadership actually feels like.
A Grounding Closing Ritual of Celebration
We will close the evening in circle with a grounding ritual of celebration.
Together we will share ceremonial cacao provided by the beautiful Golden Luxe.
Golden Luxe creates small-batch adaptogenic blends designed to support stress balance, clarity, and overall wellbeing. Using ingredients such as raw cacao, ashwagandha, lion’s mane, turmeric and ginger, each blend is crafted to become part of a daily ritual — not just a drink.
We are delighted to share one of their warming Golden Luxe blends as we close the evening together in reflection and connection.
Who This Is For
This evening is for women who lead — in companies, businesses, communities or families — who recognise that burnout and emotional reactions often have deeper roots.
You may resonate if you:
- are highly capable but emotionally exhausted beneath the surface
- recognise patterns from your upbringing repeating in your life
- feel responsible for holding everything together
- want to lead and live more consciously than the generations before you
The patterns we inherit are not our fault.
But breaking them is our responsibility.

Final Note
Burnout thrives in silence.
Relief begins when it’s named and shared.
This evening is an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to remember:
you’re not alone in this.
