About this Event
Step inside one of Westminster’s most remarkable historic buildings for a special guided visit to Methodist Central Hall.
Led by the Hall’s Archivist, this exclusive tour offers members and friends of the Thorney Island Society the opportunity to explore the history, architecture, and hidden stories of this iconic landmark overlooking Parliament Square.
The afternoon begins with a guided tour of the Hall, where you’ll learn about the building’s origins, its place in London’s civic and religious life, and see some fascinating archival material—including early design proposals from 1904 that were ultimately rejected.
You will enjoy an organ recital on the Hall’s famous 4,700-pipe organ, one of the great instruments of London.
Following refreshments, those who wish—and who feel reasonably fit—will have the chance to climb to the top of the Hall’s magnificent dome for panoramic views across Westminster and central London (weather permitting). Guests who prefer not to climb are very welcome to relax and depart after refreshments.
Visitors will also be able to see the Hall’s new café space during the visit.
Your ticket price includes a donation to support the church’s outreach work in the local community.
