Beginners Punch Needle Workshop hosted by Your Local Plant Mami, Char!
Discover the art of punch needle embroidery in this hands-on workshop designed for beginners! In this fun, creative class, you’ll learn how to make your very own punch needle coaster.
What You’ll Learn:

- How to prepare your frame
- Basics of punch needle and techniques to create a simple design
- Punch needle troubleshooting
- Tips for finishing your project
What’s Included:
- A punch needle tool
- Monks cloth
- Stencils
- Different colours of yarn
- Scissors, hot glue, and fabric glue
- Personal guidance and tips from the instructor
No prior experience necessary! Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a total beginner, you'll leave this workshop with a new skill and a finished piece of art you can be proud of!

*Each workshop date is separated so taking one workshop class will let you leave with one finished coaster. Taking two workshop classes will let you leave with two coasters in total.
Important notes:
*Free street parking after 6PM.
*Tools/materials are only for the workshop, not to take home. Separate punch needle kit maybe be sold at the event to take home.
**We recommend coming 5-15 minutes early to settle in and grab snacks. We will be starting the presentation and instructions shortly after 2:00pm. If you are late by 30 minutes or more, you will miss the instructions and likely to not complete your piece, therefore your spot is forfeited.
**If you purchase a ticket for a child under 16 years old, you also forfeit the ticket due to the age restrictions.

Inglewood is known for its creative culture and home to numerous artists. It is a thriving arts hub of innovators and creators. The 'InglewooDIY Festival' encompasses the authenticity, creative landscape and the historic community of Inglewood as a stage. Inglewood will be an experience full of nooks and crannies throughout alleyways, within historic buildings, crooked streets, industrial areas, and behind buildings. The artists, artisans, handcrafters, and makers will be vibrant and full of life inside and outside throughout the Inglewood commercial business district over two weeks in May.

Get To Know The Artist
Char (she/her) is a local Calgary artist who focuses on digital art, journaling, and punch needle. She has a love for plants and art and thus, Your Local Plant Mami was born. Char started her own art business in the middle of the pandemic and learned punch needling soon after. Punch needling has been a therapeutic art to Char and hopes that everyone she teaches feels the same about it.
