About this Event
Students will create a basket using rope as the core materials and raffia to coil around it. We will start with an explanation into basketry and the possibilities of carrying the project further through patterns. We will also review how raffia can be substituted for other materials such as yarn or fabric. No experience is required.
About the teacher:
Lauren O'Neill is a school librarian by day and an artist by weekend. When she isn't teaching about libraries, theatre, and puppetry at school; she can be found cutting up old materials and recycling them into fine art collages, basketry, and home decor items.
