About this Event
Join Aaron Bhambra, PhD student at the University of Birmingham researching heathland pollinators in the Midlands, to find out more about bees, wasps, and other pollinators.
Learn how to identify different bumblebees, the difference between social and solitary wasps, some common hoverflies and why these species are important to our environment. Gorcott Hill has a range of environments, so should be a site which provides many species.
This survey is part of the fourth annual Heart of England Forest Bioblitz where we will be creating a snapshot of the variety of species found in a specific area of the Forest during a 24 hour period. No previous BioBlitz experience or species knowledge is required to get involved.
Registration for this event is free however we would appreciate it if you would be willing to make a donation to help us to grow the forest and work on creating and maintaining a mosaic of wildlife habitats. This wildlife surveying event is not suitable for dogs to attend.
By registering for this event you are agreeing to us contacting you by email or phone to advise you of any further event information, changes to the event or post-event feedback. The Heart of England Forest events terms can be found here and the privacy policy here.
