About this Event
Event: Vesak is the traditional Buddhist celebration of the birth, awakening, and death of the Buddha. Let's gather in person to mark the occasion! Everyone is welcome.
We'll share the story of the Buddha's life, sit, chant, engage in a cord ceremony, enjoy light refreshments, and have time to meet and connect with meditation friends face to face. This year, we will have the opportunity to hear some of our sitting group leaders reflect on the power of community gathering.
Registration: This event is free and open to all. Please register as the venue has limited capacity. By registering, you will also receive reminder emails.
Health and Safety:
- Masks will be optional for this gathering. Please stay home if you have any cold/flu-like symptoms.
- Scent-free space: please refrain from using scented products to support those in our community with scent allergies.
Parking: If you park on the street, please be attentive to any parking restrictions in the neighbourhood. Please note that street parking is limited so we encourage public transit or carpooling.
Dharma Book and Gear Swap: Do you have Dharma books that are gathering dust? Is your meditation cushion just not working for you? Bring them along! Leave what you're done with, and take home new treasures. *We appreciate your care in curating the items you bring to swap. Please refrain from bringing scented items such as incense and aromatherapy oils to swap.
Bring a snack to share: If sharing food in community brings you joy, we invite you to bring a snack to share! Labelling if an item is gluten free or vegan is really helpful to our sangha. Note that we will not have serving supplies on hand, so "finger food" is best. Tea will be provided.
Contact: If you have any questions, please contact Adrianne Ross at [email protected].
