About this Event
Interpretek is excited to offer classes teaching American Sign Language and Deaf Culture! All of our classes are taught by Deaf instructors, ensuring authentic and native exposure to the language and culture.
In this introductory course, students will learn the American Sign Language alphabet, fingerspelling, basic number production, and simple grammatical structures. Students will learn about ways to introduce themselves and how to exchange some personal information. They will also be exposed to Deaf Culture and begin to learn about norms of the Deaf Community. There are a lot of fun activities and games throughout this course, and it is a great way to get started on your journey to learning ASL!
This course covers Units 1 and 2 in the book Signing Naturally Units 1-6. You will need to purchase this book prior to our class starting.
The classes meet once a week for 90 minutes via Zoom and will run for 10 weeks. (Zoom links will be provided after registration.)
