Let's honour our balboa legacy, and come together for a fun event!On April 4th, join us for an afternoon workshop with Dabe and Janelle of Washington DC.
Classes:
"Have Fun and Dance Balboa — In That Order!"
Dabe and Janelle will show you how to incorporate (and/or improve) the fundamentals of "Pure Balboa" — Posture, Position, Pressure, and Pulse — into your swing dancing repertoire. You’ll fine-tune your footwork, unleash your creativity, and create a better connection with your partner, the music, and even the dance floor itself! First we learn the rules, then we break them... «grin»
Suitable for students with no previous Balboa experience (though basic swing knowledge is strongly recommended), we strive to provide plenty of interesting concepts and novel techniques for advanced dancers as well.
"Start Awesome; Stay Awesome"
Building on the aforementioned "Four P's" of Balboa — Posture, Position, Pressure, and Pulse — we'll venture away from Pure Bal and explore (and invent!) new and different permutations of Toss-Outs, Lollies, and other Bal-Swing concepts. As before, we start with the basics and work our way up, so this class is also suitable for anybody who's taken a Beginner Balboa course — including the one above!
About Dabe and Janelle
Known for their smooth style, effortless appearance, and limitless enthusiasm, Dabe and Janelle have been teaching together for over twenty years, and have danced with each other on six different continents! (Antarctica is still on the Bucket List...) They cover a wide variety of Social Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and East Coast Swing / Jitterbug, and firmly believe that people would rather dance with somebody who does three moves — well! — versus "that guy" who does 72 moves... badly.
Cost:
$40 per person e-transferred by midnight March 28th
OR $50 per person e-transferred by midnight on April 3rd
OR $60 per person cash or e-transfer at the door.

All about the logistics:
Masks are not required but are still a good idea and there will be some available if you want one.
Location: 1574 Walkley Road, second floor (entrance is at the back). There is free parking at the back and at the little strip mall next door.
A note about the venue: there are some signs still for DanceTown Studio. It's is no longer in operation, but there is still a studio there, under different management, and many of the DanceTown signs are still up.
