BACK TO FLAMENCO: THE GYPSY RUMBA NIGHT!!!!!!

For the first time in London, we’re bringing the best rumberos from Spain for an experience you’ll never forget!!

We’ve teamed up with Barcelona’s gypsy cultural centre Carabutsi to bring their top rumberos — Sam Mosketon and the legend Peret Reyes — straight to Hackney! Plus, special guest dancer Christina Pages from Granada to make it even better!

17:30–19:30 | Rumba Workshop (All levels)

Learn percussion, guitar, song, and dance all in one. We’ll dive into the roots of gypsy rumba and the Roma community that keeps it alive. Then we’ll all learn how to play it, sing it, and dance it! Bring your instruments if you have them, but no worries if not — clapping, singing, and dancing are all welcome.

🎤 Sam Mosketón

Singer, guitarist and activist, Sam Mosketón has over 25 years on world stages — from the Palau de la Música to the Barbican — and has played with iconic groups like Chipén, Amayas, Papawa, and Sabor de Gracia. Founder of Carabutsi, Sam is devoted to preserving and sharing Roma culture through music, storytelling, and community workshops. He brings soul, history, and raw joy to every performance.

🎸 Peret Reyes

Born on Carrer de la Cera, the birthplace of Rumba Catalana, Peret Reyes joined Los Amaya at 14 and Peret’s band at 16, touring the world for over 35 years — including a performance at Eurovision 1974. Known for inventing "mesa rumbera" with Papawa, he’s played everywhere from TV shows like The Voice Senior to festivals like La Mercè and Pedralbes (opening for the Gipsy Kings). Expect a deep, thrilling journey through the roots and fire of Catalan rumba.

💃 Christina Pagés

Granada-born flamenco dancer with a magnetic spark and a teaching style that’s pure magic — she’ll have you dancing before you know it! She’s worked with flamenco legends like Concha Jareño, Moisés Navarro, Rocío Molina, Pastora Galván, Antonio Canales, and La Farruca. Christina has lit up tablaos such as Los Amayas (Málaga), Albaycín (Granada), La Quimera and Torres Bermejas (Madrid), and Tablao de Carmen and Palau Dalmases (Barcelona). She starred in Quijote en Nueva York, a flamenco documentary tribute to the legendary bailaor Carrete de Málaga. Whether on stage or in class, she brings fierce passion and infectious fun that no one can resist.

🥁 Demi García Sabat

Born in Barcelona and based in London, Demi is a master of rhythm across flamenco, jazz, Latin and Arabic music. He’s played with stars like Alec Dankworth, Shirley Smart and José Almarcha, performing across Europe, North Africa, and the US. A London College of Music grad, Demi blends tradition with innovation and teaches weekly cajón and rhythm classes, building musical bridges wherever he goes.
