Autism and your Rights: Making Sense of Education, Health and Social Care
UWE Bristol, in collaboration with Autism Independence, is pleased to invite you to a practical and insightful workshop focused on understanding autism within diverse communities and exploring effective ways to provide support.
This session provides a clear and practical overview of rights, support systems, and pathways across education, health, and social care for autistic individuals and their families.
Health: Access, Understanding, Rights
We explore how autism is recognised within health services, including diagnosis pathways, reasonable adjustments in healthcare settings, and what rights individuals have when accessing NHS support.
Education: Learning Without Barriers
This section focuses on support available in educational settings, including the right to reasonable adjustments, how schools provide support, and the development of education plans to help learners reach their potential.
Social Care: Support That Fits Real Life
We look at how social care support is accessed, including assessments, eligibility criteria, and the types of practical support available to autistic people and families, including during key life transitions.
The session aims to make systems easier to understand and support individuals and families in knowing what support is available and how to access it.
