CMS and Bristol Diocese are co-hosting a day for all pioneers, missionally-minded, innovators and entrepreneurs exploring the relationship between mission, spirituality, and colonisation, and, in particular, on what an indigenous, place-rooted spirituality might look like today while remaining faithful to the Christian story.
Tickets for the day are as follows:
Standard: £15
Unwaged: Free
Pay more to support others: £20
Pay less rather than stay away: £5
This is not a classroom-style event. Rather, we are imagining open, generous days shaped by hospitality, with time for conversation, reflection, walking, and prayer — creating space to listen well to one another, to the land, and to what might be emerging locally.
The day will involve Jonny Baker sharing some reflections from his recent book – Fringe Dweller. We will also be engaging in the past, present and future story of Bristol in relation to the work of Bristol Diocese’s Racial Justice Team and the Dean of Bristol Cathedral, Mandy Ford. This will involve a walk called the Trail of Remembrance – uncovering Bristol’s connection to Transatlantic Chattel Slavery.
Each gathering will hold space for theological reflection, shared conversation, prayer, and listening — allowing insight to emerge from the wisdom in the room as much as from any single voice. These are exploratory days, designed to deepen awareness, provoke imagination, and open new pathways for faithful, contextual mission.
Refreshments will be provided during the day.
For lunch we ask people attending to explore the main places to eat locally, in particular, in St Nick’s Market – next to our host venue. Our host venue is St Nicholas Church https://www.stnicholasbristol.org/gettinghere
