About this Event
This class offers an introduction to the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga system in the traditional lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Students will learn an abbreviated primary series that emphasizes the foundational elements of the practice: synchronized breath and movement (vinyasa) and focused gaze (drishti).
Each class begins and ends with traditional Sanskrit mantras. The session moves through a set sequence of postures linked by breath, cultivating both physical strength and meditative awareness.
All levels are welcome, from those completely new to Ashtanga to experienced practitioners looking to refine their practice.
Students are encouraged to work at their own pace, honoring their body's needs while exploring the edges of their capacity.
This class is offered by donation.
Daphne received her Ashtanga certification at One Breath of Yoga in Mexico, studying under Coco (Corinne Lepage). Coco trained in Mysore, India with V. Sheshadri in the traditional lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and later completed an apprenticeship with Michael Gannon.
Daphne's classes honor the traditional elements of the practice: opening and closing mantras, attention to breath (ujjayi pranayama), and drishti (focused gaze). She teaches an abbreviated primary series accessible to all levels, welcoming both newcomers to Ashtanga and those looking to deepen an existing practice.
