ArtWalk Dupont, which occurs on the First Friday of every month, features the Dupont Circle arts community. Each month, art galleries, museums, embassies, and more open their doors from 6-8 PM for a night of special programming. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the arts!

International Arts & Artists at Hillyer invite you to discover three new artists: Mark Tan: “Sight Unseen,” Adam Odomore: “To Harvest a Dream Buried in Dust – On Care and Blackness,” and Nicole Wandera: “We Meet Again.” Wine and refreshments will be provided. The Korean Cultural Center is showing “Landscape of the Mind,” a new duo exhibition showcasing paintings and video works derived from paintings by contemporary Korean artists Lim Hyunjeong and Jung Seok Hee. More than 20 featured works portray the artists’ personal and observed stories as visual narratives that unfold like maps of mental geography. While the stories derive from the inner mind of each artist, they also reflect universal human challenges and truths. The Korean Cultural Center is located at 2370 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

The Museum of the Palestinian People is pleased to welcome visitors our new layout and additions to our permanent exhibit, including an official jersey and 100 year anniversary book from the Chilean football team Palestino, whose members are of Palestinian descent. Also on display is a new map of where the Palestinian diaspora is now in the world. The Tatreez Inheritance exhibit will be closing mid-September so if you haven't seen it, this may be the final opportunity to see the detailed Palestinian embroidery. Join the Qatar America Institute for Culture during First Friday to celebrate the opening of our expanded Perfumery Museum! Bridging Qatari, Arab, and global cultures together, the museum introduces visitors to the history and importance of scent to the Middle East, from the origins of the distillation process and the exchange of raw materials and oils along the silk road. Test your nose by learning about the essential aromas indigenous to the Middle East, North Africa, and Southwest Asia through both smell and sight. And then walk and smell your way through a contemporary installation by emerging Qatari artist AlMaha Ahmed Al-Mahmoud. QAIC is a fully accessible family-friendly building with ramp access and elevator access to every floor. We have family facilities as well as prayer rooms. QAIC is located at 1319 18th Street NW.

Q Street Fine Art is pleased to welcome back painter Rafael Gallardo, who has returned from Spain to bring his vivid canvases back to DC. Please join Barbar Bennett and Rafael Gallardo during First Friday to view many new and exciting paintings created during his recent stay in Barcelona. Studio Gallery presents four unique exhibitions in their space. In our upper gallery, Carolee Jakes's solo show, "The Seven Sisters: An Exploration of Time and Place," is a multi-media exploration of the myriad ways that the Pleiades star cluster can be represented across differing times, cultures, and mediums. Gary Anthes and Chris Corson collaborate in "Figure and Ground," a show about finding humanity in unexpected places and ways ¬– in evocative imagery; hinting at secrets; opening doors to interior life. In our Garden Gallery, see "Jots and Tittles" by Jennifer Duncan, a show of pieced together memories from her eclectic upbringing featuring small, assembled vignettes. Also in the Garden Gallery is "Magpies and Mannequins" by Iza Thomas, a magical realism exhibit exploring the juxtaposition of magpies stealing dreams and mannequins embodying different, but similar, hopeful dreams. Studio Gallery is Washington D.C.’s longest running artist cooperative located at 2108 R Street NW.

Synergy & Serenity will host Padme Devi on September 1st, featuring her Gulugufe Art and Yoga. Padme will offer a yoga class from 4-6pm where you will be immersed in a meditative form of Sivananda Yoga while surrounded by the divine energies of cosmic paintings (suggested donation is $20). The open gallery from 6-8pm will exhibit Padme’s eclectic explosion of abstract works on canvas. Be transported into a whimsical wonderland of mesmerizing paintings that will enchant you with a kaleidoscope of powerful energy. To elevate the vibrations, the exhibit will also be open for community kirtan, so feel free to bring an instrument, your voice, and share a sacred chant. Explore this intersection of art, healing, and spirituality at Synergy & Serenity, located at 1803 Connecticut Ave NW DC on the second floor.
