About this Event
Life brings stress — but resilience can be learned.
Join us for free 6-week art classes, running every Sunday from March to April, where we’ll explore how to regain calm, build emotional balance, and express ourselves creatively.
Each session uses art as a tool for self-discovery and emotional recovery. No experience is needed — just openness to explore and connect.
Art for Resilience is an inclusive, creative and supportive programme designed to strengthen resilience and emotional well-being among people seeking sanctuary. The programme combines creative practices, reflection, and gentle psychosocial support within a safe and welcoming environment.
Creative activities, group reflection, and supportive dialogue
Session 1. “The Scent of Calm”
The goal of this session is to learn to slow down, tune into your emotions and bodily sensations, and determine your current resource state.
During the creative activity, participants will create a small lavender-filled pouch. This pouch will serve as a gentle reminder that calmness can be a source of inner strength, safety, and emotional recovery.
Session 2 “The Pattern of My Mood”
This session focuses on developing emotional awareness and regulation skills, learning to notice emotional states and make conscious choices.
The creative activity involves knitting a colourful stripe, which symbolises that emotions, like colours in a pattern, can change, combine, and be consciously chosen.
Session 3. “Stories of Stones”
This session is dedicated to reflecting on life challenges and the lessons they bring. We will explore the idea that resilience is not only about success, but also about accepting setbacks, learning from them, and continuing forward.
Through painting on stones, participants will create a symbolic “picture of growing through adversity,” reflecting their journey through difficult life stages.
Session 4. “The Flower of Success”
This session aims to strengthen self-respect and a sense of self-worth. Participants will explore their achievements, strengths, and life successes as important personal resources.
By combining creative reflection with felting techniques, participants will create a “Flower of Success” as a symbolic reminder of personal victories and gained experience.
Session 5. “The Wreath of Renewal”
This session explores the ability to let go of the old and embrace the new as an essential part of adapting to change.
Participants will create a decorative wreath symbolising the preservation of valuable past experiences while making space for new knowledge, opportunities, and life stages.
Session 6. Final Session. “The Bag of Joy”
The final session focuses on consolidating self-restoration skills and expanding each participant’s personal list of resources that provide energy and inner support.
As a symbolic reminder that every day holds reasons for joy, participants will create “bags of joy,” filled with personal meanings and resources.
You'll also discover the difference between eustress (positive, energising stress) and distress, and how to strengthen your ability to cope.
