About this Event
Association of Philosophy Teachers
APT 2026 Conference
2026, in partnership with the Institute of Education at UCL, and funded by The Royal Institute of Philosophy. The conference is open to all teachers of philosophy, whether teaching A Levels in schools or colleges, or working in prisons, in community and adult education settings, or at university. It is a brilliant opportunity to hear from professional philosophers, to reflect on the practice of teaching philosophy, to share ideas and tips with other philosophy teachers, and to feel part of a community that stretches across the country.
The event will be held on June 19th 2026 at the Institute of Education in the heart of London, with easy access by train or tube, bicycle or bus. The day will be divided into three broad sections, building through the day from theory into practice:
Morning
- Episteme: content brought by academics from the cutting edge of philosophy
- Theoria: reflections on the pedagogy of philosophy teaching from educationalists
Afternoon
- Praxis: activities and practical classroom ideas from a wide range of philosophy
teachers
There will be keynote speakers at the beginning and end of the day, and a chance for a drink
and social for those able to stay a bit longer after the close of the conference.
Spread the word, and we look forward to seeing you there.
