About this Event
Andrew Nesler presents a program of piano masterpieces by Prokofiev and Scriabin, including Scriabin's intimate Sonate-Fantaisie, inspired by the waters of the Baltic Sea, and Prokofiev's ferocious and unforgiving Sonata No. 6, the first of his iconic "war sonatas" written between 1940 and 1944.
Not just a prize-winning pianist, instructor, and author, Andrew Nesler was featured on Moving Classics TV’s “Composer of the Week” (Munich, Germany). An ardent collaborator, he currently serves as Music Director for Transgress Opera (Cardiff, Wales), and has performed as a collaborative musician across the US and in Canada, Germany, Austria, Czechia, England, and Wales.
In addition to maintaining an active piano studio, Andrew has given masterclasses and coached in the US and UK and has adjudicated pre-college competitions. He co-authored two music education curricula that reached over 1,000 young and disabled students in underserved areas. While earning his Masters, he developed "Wild Music Pedagogy," a model empowering students through anti-colonial, feminist, and eco-literate approaches. He is proud to be a Lecturer in Music at Purdue University Fort Wayne, a position he has held since 2024.
