About this Event
The rich history of African American quilting has long been overlooked, misrepresented, and excluded from mainstream quilt research. The African American Quilt Documentation Study Group (AAQDSG) is dedicated to correcting this historical gap by uncovering and preserving these crucial legacies. In this presentation led by Adonna Richardson, AAQDSG will share three compelling quilt legacy stories, each shedding light on distinct historical and cultural narratives. Additionally, the discussion will address the ongoing challenges in uncovering and documenting these quilts while highlighting the group’s efforts to preserve African American quilt traditions.
