About this Event

Arts connect us all and open our minds to new perspectives, cultures, and ideas. In our conversation club Giving Voice to Arts we encourage you to share this experience with each other – and with an artist.

For our monthly sessions, we invite an artist to give insights into their craft and to allow you a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes.

Have an inspiring chat in a relaxed setting. Everyone is welcome, no matter if an art enthusiast or casually interested – we want to hear your take!

Our guest artist for the session in April is the conductor and composer Peter Joyce.

Short Bio

Peter Joyce

After his initial musical studies in Ireland, Peter Joyce went on to study conducting and composition at the renowned University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Winner of the 1st Prize and Orchestra Prize of the 2023 Irish ‘Feis Ceoil’ Conducting Competition, Peter has worked with the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Sofia National Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic and the Webern Chamber Choir, in Concert Halls including the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the National Concert Hall Dublin.

Since the 2024/25 season Peter has been assistant conductor with the Irish National Opera and in 2025 was selected as an Opera Europa Next Generation artist. Peter is the founder and director of the Esker Festival Orchestra and Choir which celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2023 with lauded performances of Gustav Mahler’s Second Symphony. As well as conducting many world premieres, he was the winner of the 2020 Feis Ceoil IMRO Composition Award, was a finalist in the 6th Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition in 2025 and was chosen by the Crash Ensemble and New Music Dublin for 2026/27 Crash Works Residency.
