Join us for the opening event of &Piano Music Festival 2026 with a night of fizz and frivolity as we whisk you away to the world of Light Opera!We usually feature a bit of Musical Theatre in our festivals, but this year we thought we’d pay homage to the music and the shows that came before them, and which were (and still are!) extremely popular and performed by amateur light opera companies across the country.
Featuring a stellar line-up of singers who perform with Opera North, Scottish Opera & Opera Holland Park, join us as we celebrate the catchy songs, memorable melodies, witty lyrics and ridiculous plot-lines of shows by Gilbert & Sullivan, Johann Strauss (The Flying Bat), Franz Léhar (The Merry Widow) right up to the dawn of the modern musical with songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein (The Sound of Music), Jerome Kern (Showboat) & Lerner & Loewe (My Fair Lady).
