About this Event
The Battle on Campus
Conservatives say they can't speak freely on campus—that progressive orthodoxy dominates classrooms, hiring committees, and social life, making right-leaning students and faculty feel silenced. Liberals counter that this is overblown victimhood, that unpopular views aren't the same as suppressed ones, and that conservatives conflate criticism with censorship. So what's actually true? Is there a genuine ideological monoculture in higher ed, or are claims of campus intolerance a political talking point? Can a conservative student or professor thrive at an elite university—or do they learn to keep quiet?
And then there's the intervention question. The Trump administration is leveraging federal funding to force universities toward viewpoint diversity, threatening their tax status and research dollars. Is this a necessary corrective to an institution that won't reform itself—or a dangerous precedent of government coercion over academic independence? If you think campuses have a problem, are these the right tools to fix it?
