About this Event
Fri, June 5th | 5-6pm | Great Hall in Minneapolis Club
Guitarist Alvaro Henrique presents a program dedicated to Brazilian composers beyond the traditional Rio de Janeiro-centered canon. Drawing from his doctoral research at the University of Minnesota, this project reveals a broader and more diverse panorama of Brazilian music, highlighting voices from different regions, cultures, and traditions, including works by women, indigenous, BIPOC and rural peripherical areas. Through rarely performed works, commissions, and arrangements the recital challenges familiar narratives and offers audiences a deeper understanding of Brazil’s rich and multifaceted musical identity.
