About this Event
Details
GRADE: Intermediate 20km / 12.5 miles, 385m ascent, approx 5.5-6hrs walking time including a lunch stop. This varied walk includes sections on woodland paths, open countryside, and some steep ascents and descents typical of the North Downs. Suitable for experienced walkers who can maintain a steady pace.
Starting in the town of Oxted, nestled in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we follow the Greensand Way as it climbs up towards the ridge of the North Downs, providing sweeping views over the Kent Weald. The walk offers a mix of landscapes, from open hilltops to tranquil woodlands, making for a scenic and rewarding experience.
As we continue, we pass through Limpsfield Common, a National Trust area with peaceful woodland and scattered historical remnants. Moving through the High Chart area, we enjoy quiet lanes, secluded forest paths and woodland.
We then descend towards the historic and charming village of Westerham known for its connection to historical figures like Winston Churchill and General James Wolfe. The walk continues with a final stretch along the Greensand Way and a panoramic view of the North Downs towards our return to Oxted.
