Alto Quilombo presents: DIA DE LOS MUERTOS '24Alto Quilombo Amsterdam proudly presents Día de los Muertos at Noorderlicht Amsterdam!
This Mexican holiday - also known as Day of the Dead - is all about friends, family and communities coming together to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones who have passed on to the spirit realm. It is meant to be joyous and lively; nothing serious or somber! ~
On the 1st of November we'll honor this tradition by filling the day and night with authentic Mexican food, (live) music and so much more! There will be fresh Mexican tacos by Tacoteca (food truck), homemade tamales by Las Comalitas, Pan de Muerto, Mexican candy, a traditional Altar de Muertos (feel free to bring your pictures and/or offerings to put up), LIVE music by Colectivo Carpe Diem and by La Banda Fantastica, Mexican folk dancing by Grupo Colibri (as an opening ceremony), several family-friendly activities including face painting and a drawing activity, a "Catrina" costume contest (for adults) and several DJs weaving it all together! ~

Grupo Colibri is a traditional Mexican Folk Dance group from Amsterdam that has been around for almost 18 years. They have danced at many cultural events across The Netherlands and represent their cultural artform with dances such as: Jalisco, Veracruz, Nayarit, Azteca and Danza de los Viejitos.
