About this Event

WHAT DOES THE TOUR INCLUDE?

Led by our expert guides, the tour takes you across the estate where you will get to explore the site’s little-known nooks and crannies, entry into one of the guide's flat which has all the original features and is virtually unchanged, and meandering through the park with plenty of stops along the way for photo opportunities, including:

  • A view from the top of A Block
  • A view of The Tenants Hall
  • Walk through the park
  • Walk along the top terrace of A Block
  • Entry into the guide's flat
  • Opportunity to purchase Brutalist London maps and souvenirs

You’ll learn about the vision and ambition behind the design from a resident who knew the architect Neave Brown and Janet Jack the landscape architect, and gain insight into the past, present and future of the site, including an ongoing battle with Camden Council.

It was designed 1968 by Neave Brown of Camden Council's Architects Department. Construction work commenced in 1972 and was completed in 1978. Along with 520 apartments, the site also includes a school, community centre, youth club, heating complex, and parkland.
