About this Event
Alexander Hacke started experimenting with cassette loops at 14 in the early 80s, obsessed with music from an early age and dropping out of school to hang out in the West Berlin underground scene among punks, squatters, and bohemians. After initial musical projects under the pseudonym Alexander von Borsig, Hacke became a member of the band Einstürzende Neubauten in 1980.
Einstürzende Neubauten went on to become a groundbreaking and internationally re-knownband together with him first as their guitarist and then legendary bassist. In spite of their many concerts he also found time to develop solo projects: together with his then-partner and first girl-friend Christiane F.; as guitarist on Gianna Nannini's album Dispetto, as a film composer for Fatih Akin, or together with his later wife, the US artist Danielle de Picciotto, with whom he has been traveling the world since 2010 as hackedepicciotto.
"Blast" is a dazzling historical document of the wild West Berlin before the fall of the Wall, the rise of Einstürzende Neubauten, and thecaptivating life story of a true polymath that has been breaking boundaries in music for over four decades.
During the readings Alexander Hacke also entertain the audience with stories and anecdotes about his many adventures, mishaps and creative outings with international colleagues such as Mike Patten and Billy Gould of Faith No More, Nick Cave, Unsane, Al Jourgensen of Ministry, Lydia Lunch, Foetus and more.
