.Where Rhythm Becomes Poetry, and Tradition Comes Alive
At Aalei Thaalei, rhythm is more than sound — it is our language, our passion, and the heart of what we create. We
are a husband - and wife Sri Lankan duo, united in life and music — dedicated to revitalizing the rich traditions of
Eastern percussion through the vibrant sounds of the tabla and dholak.
Our performances celebrate rhythm’s power to connect cultures, generations, and hearts. Whether interpreting
beloved Sinhala, Tamil, or Hindi melodies or crafting original compositions, we bridge tradition and innovation,
transforming music into immersive, rhythm-led experiences.
Together, we — Dilhara Nandasiri and Tharu Madushani — bring years of professional, academic, and artistic
experience to Aalei Thaalei. We hold First-Class Honours Degrees in Performing Arts from the University of the
Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka, and the Visharada qualification in Tabla from Bhatkhande University,
India. Our academic background is enriched by roles as a Visiting Lecturer and Oriental Music Instructor,
alongside extensive performance work.
Through Tone Fab Studio and the Aalei Thaalei Music Academy, we share our passion through teaching,
mentorship, and performance, nurturing the next generation of percussionists while celebrating the enduring beauty
of rhythm.
Our contributions span live performances, television, festivals, original compositions, and collaborations with
leading institutions. We are proud to represent our craft on both academic and creative stages.
Join us, where rhythm leads, inspires, and transforms.
