After last year’s sold-out workshop, we are delighted to welcome Sven Doehner back to London for 2 weekends of teaching.
Sven is returning especially for the DRI community to offer an even deeper immersion into his groundbreaking approach to dreams, using alchemy and archetypal imagination, in the tradition of his teacher and analyst, James Hillman.
Sven will also be teaching a weekend workshop on using the human voice for self-exploration, as well as personal and transpersonal transformation on 28-30 November–details coming soon.
About the workshop
For those drawn to the rich, transformative language of dream images, this weekend is a rare opportunity to learn archetypal and alchemical dreamwork from one of the leading teachers and practitioners in the field.
Guided by Sven and inspired by James Hillman’s classic The Dream and the Underworld, you will:
- Explore the philosophical foundations of alchemical dreamwork;
- Discover new practical tools for working with dream images to reveal their invisible, hidden, and inner dimensions;
- Experience practices from Sven’s forthcoming book Alchemical Dream-Work: The Sacred Art of Transformation.
During the workshop, we will practice with nine fundamental keys for working alchemically with dream images:
1. Dream Invocation and Remembrance: “Stick to the IMAGE” … a meeting of “outer” and “inner” realities.
2. Sensory Exploration of Dream Images:“The Spiritual hides in the Material”.
3. From the Literal to the Metaphorical:“Beware of the Physical in the Material”.
4. The Gift of Resistances:“Opus Contra Naturam”, and “Like curse Like”.
5. Dreams as Dramas: Every moment is a “Gestalt”: “the Whole is made up of its Parts”.
6. Alchemical “Tinctures”: “Lysis” Moments / “AHA” vs “OUCH”.
7. From “COMPENSATION” to “COMPLETION”:“Everything is in a ‘tandem’ relationship with its contrary”.
8. The Alchemical Sacred Marriage: “Mysterium Connunctionis”. “Do not Repress and do not Act-out”.
9. The Human Voice: a spiritual tool for psychological transformation.“Dissolve that which is Coagulated and Coagulate that which is Dissolved”

...you are interested in Jungian and archetypal psychology, dreamwork, and alchemy. The workshop will be experiential, giving you the opportunity to learn and practice Sven's teachings using your personal dream images.
CPD certificates for 14 hours will be provided.

The online lecture on Friday evening will be recorded for those who cannot attend live. Please note that attendance is necessary on all days.
Bio
Sven Doehner, PhD, MFA, is a 77 year-old Mexican Jungian Archetypal Psychoanalyst and Somatic Movement Educator, who combines Ancestral Healing and Spiritual practices (today called "Shamanism"), with the "Alchemical Psychology" of C.G. Jung and James Hillman, in his work with images from dreams and from daily life, and in his work with the human voice – always at the service of deep and lasting healing and transformation.
