About this Event
The Washington Street Historical Society (WSHS) is proud to announce the opening of Al Qalam: Poets in the Park, a permanent art installation celebrating the writers and poets of the first Arabic-speaking community in the United States.
As part of our celebration, we are hosting three walking tours of Little Syria led by our very own Asad Dandia (founder of New York Narratives), from Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 3rd!
We invite members of the WSHS community to buy priority discounted tickets to enjoy this occasion with us.
For a description of Little Syria, you can check out this link to previous tours as a teaser.
Accessibility: This tour involves going up and down some steps on a pedestrian footbridge.
Acknowledgments: This tour would not have been possible without the help of Linda Jacobs of the Washington Street Historical Society and Joe Svehlak of the Friends of the Lower West Side and two veteran local historians and mentors to Asad working to preserve the histories of our city.
About New York Narratives: is a walking tour company and storytelling project founded by Asad Dandia to advance new perspectives on the city and its people. Subscribe to our Substack newsletter here to get updates on more NYN events, tours, and programs throughout the city!
