About this Event
From AI-generated imagery that amplifies racial stereotypes to algorithms that quietly discriminate in hiring, lending, and education, the tools shaping our world are too often built without us and used against us. At this month's AI Advocacy Lunch, Love Now Media brings together storytellers, policymakers, and community members to examine how artificial intelligence is reproducing the very inequities that DEI initiatives have spent decades working to dismantle, and to build a shared strategy for fighting back.
We will be joined by Christopher Norris, Chief Strategy Officer at StoryCorps, who will explore how media literacy and intentional storytelling can protect diverse communities from AI-driven narrative harm and keep culture from being flattened, stereotyped, or erased. Pennsylvania State Representative Darisha Parker and a Philadelphia City Councilperson will help us understand what public policies are currently being debated, how residents can actively engage with the legislative process, and what community-centered advocacy looks like in practice.
Together, we will ask what each of us can do as neighbors, organizers, storytellers, and decision makers to ensure that the communities AI most threatens are the ones leading the conversation about how it gets governed.
