About this Event
Hurricane Melissa in her destructive journey across Western Jamaica on 28 October, has brought about the most challenging period of Jamaica’s modern history. Probably most impactful has been the destruction and disruption caused to the homes of Jamaicans, their places of worship, institutions, heritage sites, and natural environment. Peter will consider:
How do we learn the right lessons from this calamity and seek to build back better?
Whether Jamaican historic sites can survive this enormous blow to so many of them?
What are the proper steps to take for this sector and in our built environment, given the 2026 hurricane season starts in a few months?
Peregrine Bryant, Jamaican Heritage Renewal Chair, will explain how JHR is assisting.
Your ticket purchase will go towards JHR's help to Jamaica.
Refreshments will be served.
