About this Event

In this workshop, we will explore the theme of "affirmations" through warm-up activities, creative prompts, and a relaxed block of time to make mini-zines that meaningfully reflect your thoughts, feelings, and experiences 💗

Affirmations allow you to acknowledge the things that prevent your happiness, which in turn, allows you to surround yourself with the things that you want in your life.

We will be collaboratively co-hosting this important session alongside poet and wordsmith Lucia Morciano, who has crafted several volumes of poetry zines and is a master of creative writing and all-round positivity – so know that you'll be in safe hands.

Using the wide array of provided materials, this highly interpretable yet confidence-boosting theme is all about challenging your internal narrative by offering yourself a soft reset through self-led affirmations in poetry and zine form.

You do not need any prior experience to take part (though we always do like to welcome back familiar faces!) and included with your ticket is a bespoke handmade envelope full of collage cut-outs to use on the day or take home for later.

Embrace the element of chance, make new like-minded friends, join our supportive community, and most importantly – have fun delving into the zine-making process!

We are releasing a range of ticket price options in the hope that everyone will be able to take part. There are a limited number of each ticket option available, therefore we kindly ask that you do an honest assessment of your affordability to ensure the intended equal access.

Here's a guide to help inform your choice:

✴️ £10 (covers some of our costs) – I am a student, unemployed, on benefits, financially stressed, or regularly struggle to meet my basic needs

✴️ £12 (covers most of our costs) – I am employed, have some expendable income, and manage to meet my basic needs

✴️ £15 (covers all of our costs and supports future workshops) – I am employed or have enough savings to comfortably meet my basic needs

Lucia is a bilingual wordsmith based in London. With a background in Theatretherapy and earning a BA in Modern Languages and Literature in Italy, Lucia gained an MA in Creative Writing with distinction at the historical Birkbeck University of London.
