David set about to create a play based on some of the bizarre situations he found himself in during his career as a unisex hairdresser and his northern humour is reflected throughout.
The blend of memories and real-life situations brings about a surreal and unique fly-on-the-wall look at the day-to-day affairs of life as a hairdresser; however, the characters we meet are fictional.
The scene is set around a hairdressing salon called Affair With Hair. In fact, David once owned a salon with this very same name.
The play takes us on a journey through the eyes of 2 stylists, Richard & Julie; revealing both their working and private lives and how at times it becomes difficult to separate the two.
We meet other characters including the eccentric Mrs Beaston & Mr Winthrop, the impressionable but innocent Chantelle-Marie, the devoted Mr & Mrs Noble and the sexually ambiguous Lorena.
But all is not as it seems and with an unexpected twist this play will share the joy, sadness, and misfortunes of these characters portrayed by just a simple cast of two.
Lisa Marie Stallard from Bolton has a wide-ranging career across theatre, TV, radio and commercials whilst David Patrick Traynor managed to combine his hairdressing with work on stage in the North-West and London’s West-End, TV film, comedy and documentary, as well as being a published author and touring Spirit Medium.
We hope you will come and join us as you once more take your own seat in the salon’s waiting room.
