Panel One: What's Now in Maternal Health
Info: Maternal health in the United States is at a critical crossroads. Despite advances in medicine, too many mothers continue to experience preventable complications and deaths during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. This panel will explore the current realities shaping maternal health today, from policy and public health systems to the lived experiences of patients and frontline providers.
Bringing together a maternal mortality review board founder from the Department of Health, a global health expert, a leading academic researcher, a practicing doula, and a patient voice, this discussion will examine what current data reveals about maternal mortality and morbidity, the structural and clinical factors contributing to disparities in outcomes, and the barriers that still prevent many women from receiving equitable care.
