Adam Nolan juggles a career between free jazz improvised music and spoken word hip-hop, having released 19 albums in free jazz to date and 5 singles as a rapper.The Cooler presents his current quintet featuring DCU Jazz graduates Sidney Edge on guitar, Cormac Kenny on keys, Teige Powell on drums, and Naoise Mac Conghail on electric bass.
Adam's every performance is a different experience striving to bask in the unknown. Adam’s multidimensional meditation practice facilitates his fearless approach to creativity, mirroring the never ending spiral of consciousness.
He has recorded with some of Ireland’s best improvisers including Derek Whyte, Dave Redmond, Carole Nelson, and Jason MacNamara and recorded his most ferocious album 'Are U Free' during his month long stay in New York American musicians Brian Kastan and James Paul Nadien.
In a recent interview, Adam discussed the darkest period of his life by which he experienced a psychosis after experimenting with psychedelic spiritual plants the Acacia Root and Jurema plant back in 2023 which ultimately led to a suicide attempt. He miraculously survived and continues to spread knowledge on consciousness and free jazz philosophy.
Currently he's working on finishing a hip hop album and is working towards a free jazz recording session with drummer Peter Sauvage. Adam’s goal is to make free jazz and hip-hop favourites of the Irish people.
