Abeng Community Garden: Community Open Day

We’re hosting our first community open day to volunteer, envision, and co-create the future of Abeng Community Garden. We invite you to join us for a day of collaboration and community building.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We are building Abeng from the ground up. This open day is about transforming our space together.

VOLUNTEER

Help us clear debris and overgrown paths, W**d, and prep the space for the 2026 growing season.

BRAINSTORM

Share your ideas on design, projects and initiatives you’d like to see, and contribute to the garden’s future development.

GATHER

There will be tea and cake!

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Warm and weatherproof clothing.
  • Sturdy boots or trainers that you don’t mind getting muddy.
  • Gardening gloves, if you have them.
  • A mug for tea.
  • You don't need any gardening experience. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult and must remain the responsibility of their parent/carer throughout the session.

We look forward to seeing you on the land soon!

WHO ARE WE:

The Abeng Community Garden aims to serve as a culturally affirming and empowering community space to foster a reconnection to the land through gardening, food growing, and herbalism.

We’re Black woman-led with a goal to build resilient communities, supporting both physical and mental wellbeing through garden volunteer days, educational programmes, and community workshops.
