a story of Jazz; a community art experience

We are gathering to celebrate Jazz! April is full of jazz experiences in Philadelphia. We are providing space for people to gather, be inspired, and share.

• An open mic! accessible for local musicans, performers, and supporters to share their voice.
• A community art show of visual, perforamnces, and archival engagment.
• An artist talk and closing show to honor the participants and their stories.

Third Thursday Jam Session: 4/17 6:30-9pm

• Come to share a piece, listen, and be inspried by the performance of Ms Pheralyn Dove. We have a live band of musicians, if you share in the craft, bring an instrument to join in.

Opening Reception: 4/19 4-7pm

• Come check out the art show, meet the contributors, listen to live persentors, engage in the archives, and have some orderves

Artist Talk / Closing: 5/25 2-4pm

• Come hear the stories from the artists, and engage with the work for one last time!

d'griot (“duh-gree-o”) amplifies more light in the 'hood; offering transformational moments to be seen, dream, and cultivate resilient community wellness.

vision:

• Named in honor of African storytellers and urban slang, d’griot is a healing space of story; stories of our ancestors, the magic in the present, and our intent for the future.
• We are a community wellness cafe; a healing space that supports folks on their holistic wellness journey of the mind, body, and spirit. We offer natural medicinal products, nutrient food and beverage, gallery, events, coaching, retreats, and a space to inspire the whole family.
• We are intentional about creating authentic beautiful spaces to share stories, activate our creativity, educate one another, map toward our goals, and support one another to see the beauty in ourselves to fly.
• We are building spaces across Philadelphia that need access to community wellness cultivation as well as outside the city on land to offer rest, retreat, and re-connection.
